HABIT OF MIND: Thinking FlexiblyFrom the PrincipalDear McKenzie Families, While today's weather made for challenging commutes and slippery pavement, it seemed to bring smiles to the faces of our students! Let's hope that rising temperatures this weekend allow us to get outdoors to enjoy the beauty of this winter wonderland! On Monday we will officially kick off our school-wide service project, "No Birthday Cake?". As stated in the PTA News below, we are collecting items that will fill "to go" birthday bags for our local food pantry. While each grade has been assigned a particular item(s), we will gratefully accept all donations throughout the week.
This coming week is a busy one! On Monday, a new session of McClubs will begin, and Chess Club will resume action. It is also the deadline for ordering your child's school yearbook (see below for more details). On Tuesday evening, we look forward to welcoming families to Technology Night. There are still seats available, so registration for this fun evening will remain open till Monday morning. Visit www.mckenziepta.com to reserve a spot! On Wednesday, PTA will host Open Gym from 6-8 pm. Big plans are underway for this year's Benefit (Feb. 4th) and Variety Show (March 12-19th). In addition to serving as wonderful opportunities to mix and mingle with McKenzie friends, these major fundraisers enable us to continue to provide activities, materials, and events that enrich our students' learning. I hope you will consider participating in some way~you'll be glad you did! Other news:
